Chief Veterinary Officer
Dr. Jovanna Radillo is a first-generation Mexican-American, bilingual small animal general practice veterinarian with over 20 years dedicated to advancing animal health and welfare. She currently serves as Chief Veterinary Officer of Quills Direct Vet Care, providing strategic clinical leadership and supporting innovative models of veterinary care. In addition, she advances access to care through her telemedicine work with Dutch.com and by providing vaccine clinics and in-hospital relief services with Vetco, helping bridge gaps in care for underserved communities. Dr. Radillo also serves as President of the blendVET Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit focused on expanding pathways into veterinary careers for underrepresented and underresourced students through youth pathways programming, mentorship, and immersive learning experiences. In her advisory role with CARES, she supports community-centered strategies that improve access to veterinary care and promote equity in animal health.
Dr. Radillo earned her Bachelor of Science in Evolution, Ecology, and Biodiversity with a minor in Comparative Literature from the University of California, Davis, followed by a Master’s in Public Policy and Administration from Sacramento State University. Her master’s thesis focused on leveraging City of Los Angeles resources to enhance veterinary care for low-income communities, reflecting her long-standing commitment to equity in animal healthcare. She completed her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine and later expanded her executive leadership capabilities through the Managerial Acceleration Program at the UCLA Anderson School of Management.
As a practicing veterinarian and executive leader, Dr. Radillo specializes in fostering healthy team cultures, developing diverse veterinary talent, and providing culturally competent care. She is deeply committed to mentoring aspiring and early-career veterinarians and to increasing representation within the profession to improve access to high-quality care for all communities. Residing in San Diego, California, with her dogs Sunny and Nino Rey and her cat Angelo, she brings a community-centered, justice-driven perspective to her advisory work in nonprofit veterinary organizations.
